"I am a spirit of this forest, and you are now bound to me. You will be my cook. You will serve me. And if you value your life, you will obey my every command." Paralyzed with terror, the young woman could do nothing but follow. The fox spirit led her to a hidden dwelling, a crude hut deep in the heart of the woods.
Her life became a nightmare of servitude. Days bled into weeks. Her only purpose was to cook meals for her captor, all the while praying desperately for a rescue that seemed impossible. One afternoon, while the fox spirit was out hunting, a crow landed on a branch near the hut.
It tilted its head, seeming to notice the woman's profound sadness.
