Summary
A Scottish folklore tale similar to the Swan Maiden myth. A man meets a beautiful woman who is revealed to be a selkie (seal creature). She eventually finds her seal skin, puts it back on, and returns to the ocean. Represents the theme of transformation and the inability to possess beings of inherently different natures.
