Summary
Jungian archetypal constructs: the anima is the inner feminine image held by men; the animus is the inner masculine image in women's psyches. Both are unconscious projections that can possess individuals, altering behavior. When possessed by these forces, individuals lose individuality and become dominated by 'inferior' traits associated with the opposite sex (men become emotional and restless; women become domineering and ruthless).
